The KMA Machines Logan is a fully equipped, superbly flexible overdrive pedal that handles everything from preamp/ clean boost duties (+25dB on tap) to amp-like breakup, indie clang and full-on rock machine. It produces harmonically rich drive which layers on sizzle and grit as you crank the gain.
The Lows and Highs EQ knobs are able to boost or cut your signal in their respective frequency bands by +/-15 dB, enabling you to beef up thin-sounding single coils, add some chime to chunky humbuckers, or tighten up the bass when changing from 2x12 to 4x12.
The Logan sets out its stall on the promise of controllable, tweakable mids - the most important frequency range for electric guitar - and it doesn't disappoint. Its parametric M-Freq mids control (also controllable via expression input for on-the-fly wah-like quacking or slow filter sweeps) lets you set your preferred mid frequency between 100Hz and 2.5kHz, while the M.C/B control lets you cut or boost the selected mids frequency by up to 12 dB.
There's also a dedicated Mids footswitch, perfect for kicking in on a solo or cutting through a particularly dense section of a song. The associated Pre/Post toggle switch lets you place the mid-EQ either before the main gain-stage (Pre) or after it (Post), opening up a whole world of tonal possibilities: place the Mid-EQ post-gain to give yourself a level boost for solos, or place it pre-gain to saturate your preferred frequency even more, effectively giving you an extra gain-stage.
Via a hole in the baseplate, you get direct access to an internal trim-pot to set the bandwidth (Q) of the Mid-EQ. Turn it counter-clockwise for a broad bandwidth giving smooth frequency sweeps, or turn it completely clockwise for really focused, resonant sounds.
Removing the baseplate will reveal a second trim-pot, which enables you to blend in your clean signal with the overdriven tone, making Logan transcend the world of guitar. Bass? Drums? Synths? Vocals? Bring it on!
I'll be away from my pedalboard over the festive period...but you can still browse!
I'll ship all outstanding orders on Friday 3rd January.
Happy new year!
