    HUNGRY ROBOT The Lumen

Glorious FET Overdrive With State-Variable Filters

    £169.99

About the HUNGRY ROBOT The Lumen

The Hungry Robot The Lumen is a state-variable FET-based overdrive pedal with no diode clipping at all. As Eric at Hungry Robot says, " I challenged myself to create an overdrive that used no diode clipping. The most common approach for an overdrive is to send an amplified signal into a clipping section where diodes chop up the waveform and distortion is create. I opted for a more natural approach of cascading FET gain stages. The distortion is created by soaking the transistors with gain. To me, this method provides a more organic, tube-like saturation than a clipping section."

    The Lumen's State-Variable Filters

The Hungry Robot The Lumen uses an active tonestack in the form of state-variable filters, commonly found in synths. Offering more clarity and tonal presence than the traditional passive tonestack, the circuit uses 3 filters (low pass, band pass, high pass) to actively amplify each frequency band.

Turn an EQ control all the way down for a flat EQ. Turn it up to boost the chosen frequency range.

    Clean Blend

The Lumen also features a Clean Blend control. Set it above 12 'o' clock on the dial and it will boost your original signal for added clarity!
