The Red Noise Germanium Stone Blender takes the silicon Stone Blender and makes a few important changes for a Tone Bender-based germanium fuzz bursting with feel and finesse.
The Tone Bender is of course a legendary fuzz, and the Red Noise Germanium Stone Blender builds on it with a 4-way clipping diode selector and a De-Clip control.
The NOS germanium transistors give a distinct response at the top and bottom ends of the frequency range, and the Germanium Stone Blender also comes with plenty of volume on tap thanks to an additional amplification stage.
"This is just the most amazingly visceral and highly textured Germanium Tone Bender variety" - Stefan Karlsson, Guitar Pedal X
The innovative De-Clip control adjusts the tonal balance and presence of the mids, enabling you to get your sound sitting perfectly in a busy recording or live scenario - alleviate those mid-scoop issues once and for all!
The De-Clip control works by allowing more of your un-clipped signal through, preserving clarity and bite. It can help improve pick attack and works wonders with bass guitar (Founder Ariel is a bassist and this pedal is more than capable of some 4-string thunder!).
The most obvious difference is that the Germanium Stone Blender uses NOS Matsushita 2SD352 Japanese NPN transistors from the 1960s (compared to the silicon version's Toshiba 2SC2240 transistors).
The circuit has been modified to maximise the potential of the germanium components, including different capacitor values and an additional amplification stage at the end of the circuit which gives a decent volume boost.
The 4-way clipping diode selector has also been updated and now offers the following options:
1N60 (Green) - Purry, germanium overdrive-like fuzz, offering oodles of saturation and crunch.
BAT41 (Red) - Zingy silicon clipping. Set the highs how you like them then dial in some De-clip.
1N270 (Yellow) - Spongy germanium clipping for a saggy, organic fuzz with plenty of break up, powerful high mids and a punchy bottom end.
Yellow LED (Blue) - A loud and aggressive character which adds volume as well as gain and bite, with tube-like response.
I'll be away from my pedalboard over the festive period...but you can still browse!
I'll ship all outstanding orders on Friday 3rd January.
Happy new year!
